Besides having topped my previous record for nerdiness, I have now topped my previous record for laziness.

I've lived in this house since the end of January, nine months now. The hot water has been far, far too hot since I've been here. Solution to the problem: Turn the water heater down. Every time I burn myself washing dishes or washing my hands, I think "Hey, I really need to turn that down." Then I think that I'm going to need to find a screwdriver, take that front panel off and turn it down. And I don't. Nine months now.

I was just downstairs doing some laundry and feeling like being productive, so I decide to look for the panel. There is no panel. Just a big dial, right out there on the front of the water heater. Nine months. I never once even walked downstairs to look at the water heater. Damn.
