Happy New Year's!
New Year's Eve is one of my favorite holidays. It's one of those wonderful ones like St. Patrick's Day or President's Day where there isn't much too it other than an excuse to drink a lot. I'm heading over to a friend's place for a party, and I will be bringing a 1.5 Liter of Southern Comfort, bitters and 7-Up, and a 10 pack of Boulevard Wheat. It was a 12 pack, but I decided to start the party just a bit early. I'm kind of upset with myself that I'm not heading over to Columbia to see Big Smith tonight... I think this is the first time in three years I haven't seen them on New Year's. At least I'll catch them in a couple of weeks down in Fayetteville Enjoy your respective nights, whether out on the town, enjoying some good music, or binge drinking alone like I normally do... Hey, is there room on that bandwagon for me?
Well, everybody seems to be linking to the Maoist Internationalist Movement's movie reviews site. I hadn't wandered in there yet, but when I did I couldn't help but notice a dual review of the 1984 David Lynch Dune and the 2000 Sci-fi Channel miniseries, both of course from a communist perspective. It does not take much to see Paul Atreides helping to break the back of the whole empire but whether or not he will truly serve the interests of the oppressed people is still left in the open at the end of both films. The first film trails off into religious fog, thus leaving us in doubt and the second version ends with the mere victory of one imperialist rival over another. Despite these ambiguities, we mildly recommend both films. They are quite entertaining and the imagination should be exercised enough by both films to provide a more suitable ending for both films. Just ignore wacky progressive spellings like "Amerikkkans", "United $tates", and "wimmin". (Is wimmin the plural of womyn? I knew I should have paid more attention in school...) Monthly traffic report...
Lord, is this what it's come to? Not much to the last month on this silly website. I didn't post anything gimmicky or smarmy, traffic was down just a bit since I didn't get linked from Instapundit this month. I do however inexplicably have permanent links on the blogrolls of both Juan and Matt Welch. Thanks a bunch guys, I don't deserve to be in such company... As for the search results, even those are boring this month... Nevertheless, here we go: Olson/Olsen Twins Nude - Remains in first place Blah... Like I said, boring... Well, I wish you a fun NYE and a much less boring Aught Three. Posted by Ryan Olson at 08:49 AM

There was a comedy benefit in LA earlier this year that I missed. It featured Mr. Show, the Kids In The Hall, Janeane Garafolo, and Triumph the Insult Comic Dog. I would have paid a lot of money to see that show... Posted by Ryan Olson at 08:44 PM

Two quick reviews...
While I was in Chicago, I took advantage of the opportunity to see Adaptation. It still isn't showing in Kansas City, but at least it's making it out of New York and LA now. It was slow in a couple of spots, but overall I really liked it. Nicholas Cage's portrayals of Charlie and Donald Kaufman were very cool. If it's an accurate portrayal of Charlie Kaufman, then he may very well be even more fucked up in the head than me. Anyway, it's nice to know that even brilliant critically acclaimed screenwriters can't woo the ladies. I think I need to read The Orchid Thief now too... In keeping with the "characters more fucked then me" theme, I also bought and read Chuck Palahniuk's newest book, Lullaby. Like all his other books, it has the same catchphrase filled staccato writing style, and it is pretty short (only took me three days), but I liked it a whole lot more than Choke. When I read Heather's review of Lullaby a while back, I figured that this book was just more of Chuck's nihilistic take on the world, which is of course why we read him. However, I think she misread the book just a bit, the character of Carl Streator in particular. Admittedly, this is a Chuck Palahniuk book, but I don't think he's nearly as amoral as she makes him out to be in her review... And I vigorously disagree with her closing comment: "Even absolute corruption has its perks," Helen tells us, but apparently a compelling narrative is not one of them. I was planning on putting off reading this one until it came out in paperback since I was a bit disappointed in Choke. This one had me turning pages, and I'll be eagerly awaiting his next... Back to Tampa...
Well, the playoff schedule is finally set. Over the last two weeks, the Eagles and the Bucs both did their parts and dropped games, opening the chance for Green Bay to beat the Jets and claim home field advantage throughout the playoffs. Unfortunately, Green Bay's defense didn't show up for the game, so we're back to third place. Philadelphia and Tampa Bay both get their first round byes. Green Bay will host the Falcons at 7:00 on Saturday, and the Giants and 49ers will play on Sunday. After Green Bay knocks off the Falcons, they go on to the divisional round. If I remember right, the #1 team will play the currently lowest ranked wild card game winner, and the #2 team will play the higher ranked I'm not sure how being a division leader vs. getting in with a wild card works in that situation, but it's moot since Green Bay will beat the Falcons and has any concievable tiebreaker against both the 49ers and the Giants. So that puts them solidly in the #3 slot, and the winner of the San Fran/New York game goes to Philadelphia. Unfortunately, that means that the next game we get is the Bucs down in Tampa. Now like everybody else, I wanted this game to happen. I did however want it to happen in Green Bay so I could go to the game. I had even gone so far as to price plane tickets for the weekend of the 10th. (Too expensive, I would have driven...) Alas, I won't be attending that game. It looks like I'll instead be down at Mulvaney's again watching it with the cute (and unfortunately engaged) bartendress. In the meantime, bring on the Falcons. They played the first game of the season, and Green Bay won in a 37-34 squeaker. It's a little cooler up in Green Bay this time of year than it was back in September. On the other side, Philadelphia will be playing either San Francisco (beat them 38-17 in San Fran) or the Giants (split their games winning at home 17-3 and losing in New York 10-7). Personally, I'm hoping for the Giants to blow through San Francisco and go to Philadelphia. They just knocked them off this Saturday, and maybe they can do it again... Atlanta/Green Bay should be a fun game to watch, but the Tampa Bay/Green Bay game is going to be nothing but ugly. It's going to be great... Posted by Ryan Olson at 08:55 AM

Better clothing inspection is in order...
So I'm doing the laundry in preparation for the trip, and as I'm hanging up a pair of pants, I notice a big tear, right in the ass of a pair of pants. So I'm left to wonder... Out
Well, not just yet, but I fly out to Chicago tomorrow at around 7:00, and Saturday we head up to lovely north central Wisconsin. It'll be a week up at the house on Lake Du Bay, visiting with the relatives and most importantly, seeing the Packers beat the crap out of the Bills next Sunday. I hear Juan is going to be up there as well, so seeing as he was foolish enough to leave his section and row on this site, I may just have to find him and buy him a beer. It looks like he's over the tunnel in section 131 and I'm on the other corner way up in the 51st row of section 107. It's looking like 26° and light snow. Perfect football weather. Well, not quite perfect, but I'll get to go to a sub-zero game one of these days... Regardless, we have neither a computer nor a phone line at the house up in Wisconsin, so no bloggery from me while I'm up there. I may be able to sneak in a post or two at an aunt's house, but since I'll probably be drunk, blogging would hardly be advisable. I wish you all the happiest of holidays and such, enjoy them wherever it is you end up or however it is you celebrate them. Posted by Ryan Olson at 09:11 PM

Go Steelers!
Pittsburgh and Tampa Bay turn up the heat a bit in anticipation of this Sunday's matchup. A Steeler win moves Green Bay one step closer to home field advantage throughout the playoffs. Nothing helps us get the support among the immigrant community in the war on terrorism that we so badly need like arresting hundreds who voluntarily complied with a registration program. At least all these terrorists are now off the streets. Let me tell you, voluntarily stepping forward to register with immigration officials is right out of the Al Qaeda handbook. There were also some trailers in front of the movie. Over half the trailers were for sequels. Most did not look promising. Lord of the Rings...
I did go to see Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers last night. My one complaint is that it's difficult to sit still for three hours in a theater seat. Other than that, you won't get any complaints out of me. I suppose I'll let my geek cred slip just a bit and admit that I've never read the books, so I was going into this with really no idea what was going to happen. I only read a couple reviews, and what stood out from the few I read was Salon's review pointing out that this could just be the first truly good acting performance out of a computer generated character. Gollum was truly amazing... His posturing, facial expression, everything about him was great. You'll probably feel more emotion for his character for any of the rest... And we only have to wait one more year for the next one! Posted by Ryan Olson at 07:49 AM

Season finale, apparently...
And they did it up right... Excellent episode of 24. I think that what I like most is that they dropped that washed out crap whenever they were over at the businessman's family's house. I think the acting among that group may have improved just a bit too... I was starting to get pissed whenever the sister showed up on screen. Her acting was upsetting. Better now, though... Back to Basics...
Well, I'm done embarrasing myself trying to talk politics so I figured I'd get back to what I do best, that being obsessively tracking down what the stars and extras from NewsRadio are up to these days. Well, the reruns that are currently running on A&E are the episodes where Jimmy hires an efficiency expert to turn the station around. The efficiency expert is played by Lauren Graham. Lauren Graham is currently working on a movie called Bad Santa, to be released next year. Bad Santa is directed by Terry Zwigoff who also brought us Ghost World and Crumb. I'll definitely be looking forward to that one. It also stars Billy Bob Thornton and, inexplicably, John Ritter. Oh, and Ron Jeremy was an extra in today's episode of Newsradio. No foolin... I guess Andy Dick and Ron are pals...

Bad Bush...
White House Takes No Stance on Lott A senior White House official said Monday that President Bush doesn't believe embattled Sen. Trent Lott should be forced to resign as incoming majority leader -- but that Bush would not explicitly call for Lott to retain that post. Wishy-washy, evasive, and utterly afraid to commit. Ugh... The best thing Bush could do for the Republican party would be to take a stand on this issue, but I guess that's a little too much to ask... Posted by Ryan Olson at 12:25 PM

Racist?
If Trent Lott can't even admit that he used to be a racist, I can't possibly believe that he isn't still. I get the feeling that he is, but just realizes that it isn't good for his political career to talk about it openly. Not only do I want him to step down, pretty soon I'm going to start getting upset with others who aren't calling for his resignation. That includes you, George. Quit pussyfooting around, take a stand, and get the fucknuts like Trent out of our party, or it's not going to be my party much longer... Posted by Ryan Olson at 07:42 PM

Are you a racist?
Ed Gordon has asked Trent, "Is there a time in your past where in retrospect you feel you were a racist?" His answer is very weak, but I think he more or less said no. Now that's just a lie. My impression so far is that Trent is not doing well, the fact that he is not doing well is going to be talked about tomorrow, and we'll get an announcement from him by the end of the week that he's either resigning or stepping down as Majority Leader. I don't think this show is accomplishing what he wants it to. Is he going to take questions from the audience? Posted by Ryan Olson at 07:22 PM

Wow...
And he's really not letting him go on this either... It seems to me that Trent is all but admitting that he did in fact mean that "all these problems" was said with a wink and a nod... Hey, we got a surprise announcement from Al Gore yesterday... I'd like to think that we'd get another today, but it doesn't sound like that's going to be the case. Posted by Ryan Olson at 07:11 PM

Rock...
I'm watching the BET Trent Lott program right now, and I'm very happy that the host is really forcing Trent to nail down what exactly it was he meant by "all of these problems over the years." Status Quo Ante
Well yesterday's NFL action didn't go how I was hoping it might. I watched the first three quarters or so of the Philadelphia/Washington game. Washington was hanging in there until the middle of the third quarter. Then Philadelphia jumped so far in front that Fox actually cut away from the game over to New Orleans/Minnesota, which was actually a game. I actually didn't know that they could do that, and I think this is the first time I've ever seen it done. Maybe only close to the playoffs... Anyway, the only good NFC news is that Minnesota knocked New Orleans back a notch. Green Bay, Tampa Bay and Philadelphia are all still tied, now at 11-3, and it still doesn't look like anybody's going to drop a game in the coming weeks. I suppose Pittsburgh will still have something to play for when they play Tampa Bay next week, and the Bears did upset the Jets this week, so maybe they can pull another out against Tampa. But Philadelphia doesn't look good at all. Dallas this Saturday, and the Giants the following Saturday. The Giants may have something to play for then, but it looks like they won't if Atlanta knocks off Detroit next week... Don't tell me I have to root for Detroit two weeks in a row... Mr. President, The Joint Chiefs Need An Answer
I did in fact watch most of the Al Gore Saturday Night Live last Saturday. It was pretty bad, and the whole time I was just hoping that he wouldn't run for president again. Well, I woke up this morning and one of the first news reports I heard was that I got my wish. Now it's nice and all that he's not going to run for president. Does that mean that I can stop having to hear news stories about him and that I can count on him never again appearing on my Sunday morning talk shows? That would be great, and I don't see why we should care at all about what he has to say at this point. I also timed the second song that Phish played on Saturday Night Live. It was only three minutes long... Posted by Ryan Olson at 08:07 AM

Packers Playoff Picture
Well, we're in. That's been obvious for quite some time now. Of course, the big question at this point is home field. Green Bay is undefeated at Lambeau during the playoffs. Almost as important, my parents will have tickets to any playoff games that happen at Lambeau this year. Let's take a look at the contenders for home field in the NFC playoffs. Currently, Green Bay is tied at 10-3 with Tampa Bay and Philadelphia. Also somewhat in the mix are San Francisco and New Orleans, both at 9-4. Tiebreakers don't look too good. Green Bay has lost to both New Orleans and Tampa Bay. Since Green Bay and Philadelphia didn't have a head-to-head matchup this year, their tiebreaker is division record. There, it looks like the loss to the Vikings is coming back to bite the Pack, as the Eagles are currently undefeated in their division. Green Bay plays at San Francisco this afternoon. That Green Bay San Francisco (is that a Battle of the Bays?) game is the last matchup of the year among the NFC top-tier playoff contenders. Green Bay absolutely needs this game. I just read this morning that it looks like TO needs a band-aid, so that looks good for our guys... I'll be watching there. As I said though, this is the last top-tier matchup in the NFC. Since we're on the bad end of just about all the tiebreakers, we need to win out and count on upsets over both Philadelphia and Tampa Bay. And that doesn't look so good. Tampa Bay's remaining roster is at Detroit (ouch), Pittsburgh at home (grr) and at Chicago (dammit). I suppose here we're pretty much hoping that Tampa decides that they don't need to show up for one of these games. Unfortunately, with the possible exception of Pittsburgh, they probably don't need to show up to win out. Come on Pittsburgh, don't let me down... Philadelphia has games versus the Redskins, at Dallas, and in New York against the Giants. That's all in division, so maybe we can hope for a team with some familiarity taking advantage of McNabb's injury and knocking them back a notch. I'm really hoping that the Redskins can knock the Eagles off when they kick off in half an hour. That would save me the indignity of having to root for Dallas next week when I'm at Lambeau. That's like cussing in a church... McNabb expects to be back for the season closer against New York. I'd almost like to hope that McNabb will be rusty after coming back, but he played almost a whole game on that ankle after he broke it, so I'm not going to count on that. Go 'Skins... Green Bay does have a chance to win out. The tough game is San Francisco this afternoon. After that I'll be watching the Pack play Buffalo at Lambeau. (Little known fact... Green Bay is undefeated at Lambeau when Ryan is drunk in the stands...) They close out the season in New York against the Jets. So as for today's games, go Lions, go 'Skins, and Go Pack Go... Kickoff in twenty minutes. I need to head over to Missouri to get beer... Posted by Ryan Olson at 11:02 AM

Scrollamatoolie!
Whenever I write a post about which I'm slightly embarrassed, I'll quickly jump in and post three or four quick posts in order for the offending post to no longer be sitting at the top of the page. Now, I'm a bit of a first amendment purist, so I'm not particularly embarrassed by my comments on the issue of cross burning, but I don't care how much of a first amendment purist you are, there's no way you can take that sort of a stand and not be a bit squeamish about it... So in the interest of scrolling that post further down the page, I bring you an oldie but goodie from The Onion: ACLU Defends Nazis' Right To Burn Down ACLU Headquarters Also, the faint of heart certainly shouldn't scroll through the extensive list of, ahem, films that Ron Jeremy has starred in. If you do though, you'll discover that he has an uncredited role in the 1973 film production of Jesus Christ Superstar. No, really, look down near the bottom. OK, so I'm trying to dig myself out of the hole of defending cross burning by pointing out that a Porn Star had a role in a movie about Jesus Christ. Excellent work, Ryan, another stellar outing... Time to head to Home Depot so I can get the bathroom going again. Also, somebody please tell me what the hell I'm doing up at 7:33AM... Posted by Ryan Olson at 07:35 AM

...
There's a funny little article about cross burning over at Slate. The Supreme Court just heard a case challenging a Virginia law banning cross burning. I really don't know exactly where I come down on this one. I do think there is a difference between burning a cross at a rally on private property and burning one on the lawn of someone you are attempting to intimidate. Burning one at a clan rally on somebody's private property seems to me to be ugly, ugly speech, but speech nevertheless, and should be protected. However, the facts of the case being tried surround a burning on the lawn of an interracial couple, and I don't see how that is too different from posting a note on the front door of the house reading "stop dating that white woman or we will kill you." I think that's a fairly clear cut threat, and I certainly don't think that should be protected under the first amendment. But read the article anyway... Some of the facts in the case are pretty hilarious. (The attempted cross burners apparently couldn't actually get the wooden cross to light, even with the use of lighter fluid. Also particularly nice is Justice Scalia's comment that "One can always burn a cross in the sanctity of one's bedroom.") Hmmm... I'm going to have to remember to listen to Nina Totenberg's coverage of the hearing... It sounds like it was a good one... Posted by Ryan Olson at 02:32 PM

Iran
Things continue to heat up in Iran. The student protests against the regime over the weekend apparently went well, and have grown beyond student protests to include large segments of the general population in cities all over Iran. I'm still kind of surprised that this isn't getting more attention, but Michael Ledeen wrote a column for National Review last week on the subject. It has a fair amount of good information in it, but I disagree with his conclusion that the US should be getting more involved in the events in Iran. Why is the National Security Council taking so long to formalize our policy? Why do the principals — Powell, Rumsfeld, Rice, et. al. — not get this thing done? And why on earth has the president not demanded that it be done quickly? We are not talking about military war here, we are talking about the kind of support for freedom fighters that the United States has traditionally delivered in such cases, even in countries that were not involved in a terrorist war against us. Ummm... I think that the "support for freedom fighters that the United States has traditionally delivered" is what's been getting us into trouble all these years... Things are going well there, and though I don't disagree with actions like supporting independant Iranian broadcasters, I think that as much as possible we need to stay the hell out of the situation and let the revolution happen completely from within. You can find lots of good information at the website of the Iranian Student Movement Coordination Committee. There are pictures of the protests and a nice aggregation of news stories on their news service page. Posted by Ryan Olson at 12:20 PM

Yay for Spam!
Innovative new spamming technique, or personal attack on me? I've been receiving a TON of bounced emails yesterday and today from AOL. They're all apparently some sort of Spam for some sort of "Make Money With Your Computer!!!" program that has inserted my email address in the "From" box. Some of these are apparently being sent to invalid email addresses, so the messages bounce back to me. I guess there are several possibilities... 1. Somebody is using some bulk emailing software that randomly chooses addresses in the list for the return address when sending to other addresses. 2. This is the intended behavior on the part of the spammer. They're deliberately sending to known bad email addresses and using the From field to make sure the returned notice delivers the message successfully to me. 3. Somebody doesn't like me and put me in the "From" box when sending out their dirty, dirty spam hoping to annoy me with bounces and irate responses. I'm guessing #1. #2 doesn't seem like that efficient a way to send email, particularly since the body of the message ends up obscured by AOL's bounced message text. And it could only be #3 if there were people out there that don't like me, and we all know that that certainly isn't the case. Everybody likes me. Posted by Ryan Olson at 02:23 PM

The Houston Texans beat the Pittsburgh Steelers by a score of 24-6 and only had 47 yards of total offense? Oh well, four wins is four wins... Hell, that puts them in front of Minnesota, Cincinnati, Detroit, and Chicago after they lose to the Fins this evening... I did catch Green Bay/Minnesota last night, but was out at a bar with no sound on, so I didn't catch anything about the riot that almost happened at the end of the game. I guess some Minnesota players were upset about that game-clinching interception almost being run back for a touchdown, so they gave him a late shove after they finally got him down. Apparently, the Green Bay players and staff didn't take too kindly to that, and there was a bench-clearing shoving match going on... At least that's what I could make out from watching with no sound. No, advertising doesn't affect me at all...
That VW Convertible commercial includes the song "Mr. Blue Sky" apparently by Jeff Lynne of ELO. It looks like it's available on many, many ELO albums. ELO's kind of one of those bands that I always feel like making fun of, even though I really don't have the first clue as to what kind of music they play... Posted by Ryan Olson at 08:12 AM

Blah
Blah. It hasn't been a great weekend. Friday night was pretty fun... Went out with some guys who decided to make the night a lesson in meeting women at bars. It worked about as well as every other time I've tried that, but I had a good time, anyway. Saturday I didn't do too much. I slept late since we were out late Friday night, and spent most of the afternoon cleaning and getting some more stuff I'm going to need for the bathroom. I didn't get too much done on the bathroom because I had plans for Saturday evening. Those plans didn't pan out, and I was a bit upset about it, so I went to Rusty's to have a beer. While there I got to see the last half of Arkansas losing (badly) to Georgia. Didn't feel like staying out, so I went home and to sleep shortly thereafter. Today I was just bored and lazy. Kansas City won, but from watching the fantasy football scores, it looks like I'm out of the playoffs, so I'm not going to break even like I thought I might. Oh the horrors of gambling. Checking out the NFL Standings wins by Tampa Bay and Philadelphia leave those teams in a three way tie with Green Bay for first in the NFC (assuming that The Pack beats those Minnesota sissies on the Frozen Tundra this evening.) I did watch a lot of football today, but only half-heartedly. I was working on this machine trying to get my radio station working again. I think I have everything installed, but it looks like the machine can't handle it. I knew this machine needed more RAM, but was hoping that it would be able to handle it, but it locked up the machine the first time I tried to run it. I'll probably try again soon to see if it handles it better when I don't have so much other stuff running, but I think that this machine just can't hack it. I'm also getting tired of being single. (I first wrote more, but I think I'm more tired of listening to myself whine than I am of being single.) Well, The Packers play in about half an hour, and we'll be able to put this season of The Sopranos to bed tonight as well. Then I guess I'll cancel HBO for another year or so until they get another season going. If they had been smart, they would have had the new season of Six Feet Under ready to go as soon as Sopranos ended, but they don't. Oz isn't going to cut it for me... More TV now, I suppose. Crap! Why is it that whenever I catch King of the Hill, it's always this same episode about Peggy getting a job at Alamo beer? I guess I'll have to surf for a half hour or so... Oh the (crimes against) humanity!
Robert Fisk is back with more evidence of Crimes Against Humanity committed by our troops over in Afghanistan... In Kandahar, in what we call their living areas, the prisoners are given cots with blankets and Adidas suits and runners, but they have no privacy. Adidas suits? Like, that is so totally '80s. Those prisoners must just want to, like, die... Gag me... Posted by Ryan Olson at 02:02 PM

Honey I don't think that's true...
Just what the hell is a snuff queen anyway? You'll find the answer at the Jimmy Buffett FAQ. They also claim to have the recipe for the perfect margarita, but I've heard that before. I'll believe it when I try one... Posted by Ryan Olson at 08:07 AM

Interesting times, etc...
The Iranian Student Movement has big things planned for this weekend, apparently. It should be interesting to see. Do we get Tiananmen Square or do we get The fall of the Berlin Wall? Posted by Ryan Olson at 08:03 AM

Personality Disorder of the Week at the Rabbit Blog...
Back when Heather was regularly doing her personality disorder of the week, I was looking forward to the day when I would be able to successfully diagnose myself. I finally hit the jackpot when she hit "Avoidant Personality Disorder" (Six out of Seven!). Now, she's apparently gone throught them all and is now recycling. But with different comments this time.... Since she's out of personality disorders, do you think any of you guys can come up with some new ones to diagnose me? Posted by Ryan Olson at 12:26 AM

Sweet...
The NFL Competition Committee is going to review overtime rules for next season... I agree. I hope they scrap that sudden death crap... I'm for going to something more like the college system, myself. Maybe two drives for each team and a tie after that except in the playoffs... Posted by Ryan Olson at 03:13 PM

Big Whoop? Damn right...
So Al Roker is going to visit James Lileks and tape a segment for the food network. That's cool, and I'll have to make sure to record it when it's on. I almost have my computer set up properly to record TV now. Unfortunately, the file naming system is dumb, so I can't figure out how to record multiple instances of a show without attendance every day. I can either choose filenames like "Program Name (Time)" or "Program Name (Date)". If I choose Time, I can get both episodes of News Radio every day, but have to rename the files every evening or they get overwritten the next day. If I choose Date, when the second episode starts, it overwrites the file for the first episode. Plus it's just kind of flaky. I did get one episode yesterday, but the file was corrupted after about the twenty minute mark. Worst part is that it was an episode I don't remember having seen before. It also insists on storing the video in my "My Documents" folder instead of the 80 gig D drive that I'm trying to get these on. But as I said to somebody yesterday, that was the worst thing that happened to me yesterday, so I guess I should consider myself lucky. The worst thing that's happened to me today is that I forgot my wallet on the way out the door, so I'm going to have to either go home for lunch or skip lunch and risk starvation. I am on the verge of starvation, don't you know. Reminds me, I need to update the weight chart this evening. And go work out... Posted by Ryan Olson at 07:42 AM

With The Two Towers coming out soon, I feel like renting Dead Alive, Bad Taste and Meet The Feebles. Meet the Feebles particularly. That movie rules. Posted by Ryan Olson at 09:21 PM

OK, Who's the wise guy?
So who's the joker that scheduled the revenge match between the Green Bay Packers and the Minnesota Vikings at the same time as the season finale of The Sopranos? Two things: This season of The Sopranos hasn't been all that great. And why are Green Bay and Minnesota playing again after only three weeks? Can't they space these things out better? Coming soon...
Adaptation, the latest from screenwriter Charlie Kaufman and Director Spike Jonze, opens this weekend. I'll be there. Kaufman and Jonze last collaborated on "Being John Malcovich". There's an interview with Jonze, Kaufman and star Nicholas Cage at The Onion A.V. Club. Also a nice review of Adaptation... Posted by Ryan Olson at 08:11 AM

Monthly Search Engine Referrals
Honestly, not terrific in November, but here goes: #1: The ever popular "Olsen Twins Nude" From there it drops off to more random ones. For example: "Australian Sousaphone Pictures" - Do they wind the other way down there? Well, I guess I overdid that a bit. See you later... Posted by Ryan Olson at 12:47 PM
